(Born December 8, 1910 in Jacksonville, Tx, died March 21, 1996, San Antonio, Tx)

Helen Pruit Prichard was the wife of Lev H. Prichard, Jr.. Mrs. Prichard’s involvement in social events in Oklahoma City was well-documented in numerous articles and photographs in Oklahoman newspapers.

She graduated from Lon Morris College in 1930 and married Lev H. Prichard, Jr. of Oklahoma City in 1932. Except for Mr. Prichard’s service in the Army Air Corps in World War II, they lived in Oklahoma City until 1948, at which time they moved to San Antonio.

When Lev H. Prichard, Jr., died abruptly during travel, Helen became widowed. She went on to marry twice more, and so her full name reflects more surnames.

After Lev Prichard Jr. died in 1950, Mrs. Prichard married J. Russell Davis in 1951. Mr. Davis died in 1972.

Together with her son, Lev H. Prichard III of Corpus Christi, they owned and operated Hereford Hills Ranch in Blanco.

In 1976, she married Wilbur Lee Matthews. Together they funded the elephant exhibition at the San Antonio Zoo, and the Chapel at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Matthews was a member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, the Junior League of San Antonio, the Battle of Flowers Association, the Live Oak Garden Club, the Argyle and the San Antonio Country Club. She served as president of the Charity Ball Association in 1961.
